Clarification regarding Foreign work experience in Express entry

I have a question regarding foreign work experience. I am working in same institution since 2, Aug, 2011. My job is fulltime, but its not permanent, its a contractual job and I have got contracts as follows:

02/Aug/2011 to 30/June/2012

(1 Month GAP)

01/Aug/2012 to 30/June/2013

(2 days GAP)

03/July/2013 to 02/June/2014

(1 Day GAP)

04/June/2014 to Till Date

My job title as per the appointment letter is Assistant Professor (Computer Programmer/Computer Practices). My jobs duties are as follows:

Write, modify, integrate and test software code
Maintain existing computer programs by making modifications as required
Identify and communicate technical problems, processes and solutions
Assist in the collection and documentation of user requirements
May lead and co-ordinate teams of computer programmers
May research and evaluate a variety of software products
and out of 40 hours per week I also teach Introductory Programming course for 3-7 Hours per week.

I wish to apply under NOC Code 2174 as most of job duties are similar to that. Actually my institute changed the nomenclature for the post few years ago, it used to be only COMPUTER PROGRAMMER.

I want to know that if I am eligible for Express Entry under NOC Code 2174?

If the duties of NOC 2174 match those of a job you have at least 1 year of experience in, then yes.

If you're not sure whether or not 2174 is the right NOC, make a list of your main duties and email it to noc@workingincanada.gc.ca and they'll match you to the right NOC.

Frankly, I don't see what OP's dilemma was. He has 1 year of full-time experience in an NOC that matches his job duties, and is therefore eligible to apply under that NOC. It's all very straightforward.

So exactly what dilemma are you facing ? Please provide details, because I really don't understand the problem.

first of you don't have to be permanent unless you are applying under LMIA or PNP programs if your only creating EE profile it will need you to have atleast 1 year of experience in that field ,your pretty much eligible and as far as duties are concerned there has to be atleast 70 % match with the duties with your code on official site(cic site)

My main problem is the Job Title, it does not match with the NOC 2174 even thought the job duties does match.

The job title doesn't matter. All that matters are the duties.

Not every job title is displayed in each NOC type, im sure there are hundreds of other job level's that perform same tasks and have exactly or somewhat different duties and yet they have different job titles. As long as you have a 70- 80% match of duties with the NOC 2174 your good.i would not stress on the titles.
