Do Canadian certificates/diplomas have an agreed number of study hours in order to be recognised as 1 year ? For example, in Australia, 1 year of learning is at least 1200 hours of study (face-to-face learning + individual study/research time). Does Canada have anything similar ?

I don't think you can; the second degree/diploma/certificate must be at least 1 year long.

Thanks. That was my initial thought too, but I have vague recollections of people on this forum having their work experience discounted because its NOC didn't match the NOC of their education. Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly.

Sorry, follow-up question. Does work experience count (provided you meet the requirements of the lead statement, and employment requirements) even if you have no qualification at all for it (eg. those NOCs that say that educational qualifications "may be required") ? Specifically, for NOC...

Difficult. In order to get an LMIA, the employer must prove that there is no one currently allowed to work in Canada (citizens, PRs, people on open work permits) who is able to do the job.

No. Your personal history is supposed to contain everything; the education section is only for qualifications you wish to gain points for.

If you don't want to claim points for it, leave it out of your work history, and put it in your personal history.
