Are re-attempts allowed in Citizenship test in case one fails in the test ? What is the criteria ?

If you fail the test, they will give you an interview where you may try to convince them to give you citizenship anyway. I have no idea if they ask some test questions on the interview or if they look at your ties to Canada etc. but if you fail to convince them, you will of course keep your PR and can apply for citizenship again when you are ready.

Thanks for the clarification. So, we can appear again once ready. In that case, failure in test and interview does not mean citizenship chapter is closed for ever ! That is a positive note.

Hi Leon

When does the CIC inform you if you fail your test. Does it take couple of weeks or months ?

Regards
Shabab

I assume it takes at least a couple of months to find out but you could be waiting for this interview for a year from what I have heard. Even if you pass the test, you usually do not hear from then for 2-4 months when they invite you to attend the oath. In some cases it takes even longer.

Read an appeal decision(denied) not long ago - a lady from China failed the test and the interview. In fact, she brought an interpreter to the interview and became upset when the Judge asked the interpreter to be quiet. :D Some of the questions were:
Tell me about yourself? your family? How many kids do you have? What's your favorite season? What's the temperature today? and then there were follow up questions.
