Hi Friends!
I am just preparing to apply for citizenship for me and my family. Can anybody highlight the steps and time involved in the citizenship process? If I and my family leave canada for a long time after applying for citizenship, is this going to impact my application?

Thanks.

But the law says they see last four years from the date of application. So, why would they check the period after application date?

Because if you are one of those who-apply-on-the-way-to-the-airport your citizenship will be denied. Some people stay in Canada long enough to apply and they leave Canada to their beloved country to come back 2 days before the test and leave again to come back 2 days before Oath. This is not acceptable anymore.

As the new rules have not taken effect yet, there is still on intent to reside. However, immigration doesn't like it and if they know you to have left after applying, they are more likely to give you an RQ which will result in your application being delayed by worst case a few years which means that you must return to Canada no later than after 3 years outside to make sure you continue to meet the PR residency requirements. If you lose your PR, you can not get citizenship.
