Citizenship Quick Question

Hi ,

My wife has applied for her citizenship in this August 2012. She recently received a study material and guide from immigration. We can see the online status is showing received.

What is the next step now ? how long it might take further to get the interview call? How long it takes after interview to get the passport?

The processing time for citizenship has been getting longer. 80% of applications processed in 21 months or something like that the last time I looked. She will therefore be asked to attend the test, probably sometime in the next 18 months. If she passes the test, she should be invited to attend the oath ceremony at some point after that. If she fails, she will be asked to interview.

Thanks for you quick reply Leon, But is it has to be 18 months or so , have you heard some one received this citizenship really quick? Specially a woman?

The 21 months is the 80% number. Some people get it in 8 months and some people get it in 3-4 years. There is no way of telling for each individual person. There is no guarantee that she will get invited to take the test in the next 18 months but if the 80% average is 21, then it is likely that she will be called at some point in the next 18. Could happen 6 months from now and could happen 18 months from now. You really can't know.
