When I took it, it was 15 out of 20 but the last page which was all about your rights and responsibilities as a Canadian as well as voting, you had to get all 5 right so 10 out of the first 15 and then 5 out of 5 but I think they changed it since then.

They should have sent you the study booklet already. If they haven't, you can download it on the CIC website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/discover/index.asp This is your time to prepare. When they call you for the exam, it might only be with 10 days to 2 weeks notice.

You can expect the citizenship test to be any time between now and a year from now.

The average time is a bit over a year total last I heard but I have heard anywhere from 6 months up to 2.5 years.

I applied in January 2006 and got it in August 2008. That is 2 yrs. and 7 months, same as yours but I think we must be considered very special by immigration because that is nowhere near the average processing time :)

Could longer wait/processing time have something to do with where you guys are ? In application -heavy areas such as Greater Toronto area or Montreal, QC?

Just wondered if very dense locations have some bearing on longER lines/processing times ? ::)

No, I have heard of people in Toronto getting it in as little as 8 months. Mine was through the Edmonton office and the people I met at the oath, when asking them how long theirs took, the 3 or 4 people I asked all said it took a year for them.

I had a theory that they dropped my application behind a cabinet and found it during spring cleaning. I have no idea if that is true or not. I never had any requests for additional information or anything like that. My application was in processing on eCas the entire time until the day I got the letter to appear for the test, then it was listed as moved to local office.

You can tell them that you will be on vacation and ask them nicely not to schedule your test during that time but in some cases they will anyway. If you can not make the test date, here's what happens:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/citizenship/index.asp#test said:
What happens if I miss my scheduled citizenship test, my interview with a citizenship judge or my scheduled ceremony?

We will mail you letters telling you when and where to go for your citizenship test and for your citizenship ceremony.

If you do not appear for your scheduled citizenship test, we will mail you a letter telling you that because you missed your citizenship test, you are now scheduled to appear for an interview with a citizenship judge.

If you miss that interview, another interview will be scheduled for you and you will receive a notice of that second scheduled date by registered mail.

If you do not attend the second scheduled interview, your file will be closed.

If you do not attend the citizenship ceremony and do not contact the citizenship office within 60 days, your file will be closed. You will then have to fill out another application form and pay the fee to go through the entire process again.
