Hello Friends,
I received my Oath ceremony but I couldn't attend as I was in India. CIC officer did say that they could hold my application until 6 months. But due to family emergencies and issues I cannot travel back to Canada for a year. They did suggest me to provide the full address of the Embassy where IRCC can send my citizenship certificates.

My question is, has anybody been in this situation recently if so how was it handled in your case? Also, would anyone happen to know which address in India (In or closest to Bengaluru if possible) can I provide to send the citizenship certificates.

Appreciate your help!

I believe Canada has embassies in Bangalore - or it is a consulate general

Just curious, what documents did you provide to prove emergencies and issues that prevent you from going to Canada? Did this conversation happen through emails? If so, how long did it take from the initial oath invitation until now? TIA

I didn't provide any documentation, as soon as I received the invitation for Oath ceremony, I conveyed my position via email to CIC-Mississauga-Citizenship@cic.gc.ca. This email information is also provided when you receive an invite. They took around 2-3 weeks to respond back to me since I emailed after I received my invitation.

Yes, I conveyed my situation and they suggested me to take the Oath ceremony in India. It is called Overseas Oath Ceremony. It would be similar to the oath ceremony that is taken while in Canada.

I was told that the Registrar of Citizenship will make a decision in 1 or 2 months.
There was no approval process or at least not visible for us. But after conveying my message they came back within approximately 1.5 months.
For my wife, we have requested the same. No reply yet and it has been a little over 1 month already.

Does it come on email or it gets updated on the tracker?
