Yes you may travel outside Canada after you submit your application. However, you should inform IRCC about your travel plans if you are going to be outside Canada for more than two weeks.

Is there any reference for this? I mean that we need to inform if we travel for more than 2 weeks then we need to inform IRCC

Yes, but you can only inform IRCC after getting AOR.

Also I assume that they won't send the invitation for the test/interview during the dates of your travel so I wouldn't recommend long trips (specially during the dates where you estimate that you can have that invitation, though with the increase on the applications it will be impossible to guess)

Hi Guys,
I have a question regarding the language requirement. I found

Have you completed or are you currently attending a secondary or post-secondary program, in French or in English, in Canada or abroad?
If you are, send a copy of proof that you have completed or are currently attending a program with your citizenship application. Proof can be your:
  • diploma
  • transcript
  • certificate
My wife is currently in her second year of college in one of the colleges in Ontario. I guess her transcript should suffice for the language requirement as I remember it was mentioned before that it has to be a completed program but this one says currently enrolled.
thanks in advance

I agree that it is best to quote the application number. However, if one has to travel before the AOR, then one can also quote the Payment receipt number and provide complete details of the applicant. It does not mean that one cannot leave the country until one gets the AOR.

I didn't say that you cannot leave the Country before AOR. I said that you can't notify IRCC of your travel before getting AOR. Idon't see how the Payment Receipt Number or Details would be useful to update information with IRCC before getting AOR.

If one needs to travel after submitting one's citizenship application but before one gets the AOR, which can take between 30-45 days post submission, based on earlier trends and even longer for applicants post Oct 11, on account of the increased volumes, how should one inform IRCC of our intention to travel for more than two weeks outside the country?

You do not have to notify IRCC if you don't want to. This has nothing to do with the Citizenship application. You might inform IRCC if you foresee that they will contact you on an address where you will not be available to respond. If someone can take care of your mails etc. then you don't have to inform IRCC. Many people I know left Canada during their Citizenship application was in process and came back twice only...once to take the test and interview and lastly for oath and passport.

I don't think so because they did not specified about that. Do you have any source to support your claim? If you do not inform IRCC then it would consider misrepresentation. If you get caught you could be in big trouble! Yeah I know many people lie and never get caught!

Misrepresentation means that you deliberately omitted facts or altered them. Even if there is an obligation to inform IRCC about travels, if you don't do it due to oversight, that's not misrepresentation. It's still a mistake, but don't throw the word misrepresentation and lie around so easily.

There is a big difference between hitting someone with a car by accident and deliberately hitting someone with a car. And in the same way there is a big difference between being sloppy with your application and misrepresentation.

Furthermore, the request to inform IRCC about longer travels is just them wanting to know how to reach you. This request is not backed up by the citizenship act and therefore can't be misrepresentation anyways.

Of course you should still inform them.

I agree, I don't think that is an obligation and the link that I posted clearly says that you can leave and doesn't say that you need to notify.

I believe that to notify is on the best interest of the applicant as I've read on other posts and my experience when I applied for my PR while I was living in Canada that when you notify they avoid scheduling interviews, tests, etc on those dates.

But it's too soon to think about tests when we don't even know if we will be getting the AOR in the 4-6 weeks from applications pre C-6.

What about someone who is studying outside Canada, has required days for citizenship. There is no change in address, the person is still living in Canada and PR for all practical reasons including filing of taxes in Canada. Staying in a dorm cant be called residence. Such people will apply for citizenship and leave after the break is over and come whenever the test and oath is due.
Is the objective of informing IRCC just to help them to reach the applicant? If so, the person can authorize someone to receive mail. Isn't that possible?
