Hi, I will be eligible to apply for my citizenship in July 1st week, and I am thinking of applying for the citizenship by end of July, to have some margin on the number of days. I am getting ready with gathering documents, etc.; and I have the below questions. I appreciate your kind response:
1) I have landed in Canada in Oct 2012, and went back to US, where I was residing at that time. I came back to Canada permanently in June 2013. The physical presence calculator does not allow me to enter June 2013 as the time I came to live to Canada (arrival to Canada), when I specify Oct 2012 as the landing date. Therefore, I am specifying both my arrival to Canada, and permanent residence date as Oct 2012 in my physical presence calculator. Hope that is fine. Please let me know if this is the correct way to do.
2) In between Oct 2012 and June 2013, prior to my permanent move to Canada in June 2013, I have traveled to Sweden when I was residing in US. I do not think I need to mention travel to Sweden in the physical presence calculator, as I really traveled from the USA. I understand that the physical residence calculator is essentially about traveling into and out of Canada. I will be mentioning that I have left Canada from Oct 2012 and returned to Canada in June 2013. Please confirm that I do not need to mention travel to Sweden.
3) I will be applying for my 5+ year old son's Canadian citizenship along with my citizenship application. I am planning to send both of our applications in the last week of July. However, he will be traveling out of Canada from mid July to mid August. Is it fine to send his application even when he is out of the country? Do I need to wait until mid August when he returns to send both of our applications? I am fine ether way, and wondering the correct procedure.
Thank you for all the responses.
