CIC will not deliver my wife's decision package to Canada

Hi, we have a bit of a problem. My wife's PR decision was made this week, and they're ready to send the decision package to her. However, we are no longer in Japan, and the Manila office says they won't send it to Canada, where we are now. We were told to contact the Canada Visa Application Centre in Tokyo about delivery. We have an extremely short deadline of April 30th for landing. It's impossible for her to return to Japan to pick up the package, send her passport, then pick up her passport and return back to Canada in such a short amount of time. We simply don't have the funds to buy a ticket for her to do so. So, how do we get the package sent to us in Canada, then have them return the passport to Canada? Any ideas?

Contact your MP to see if he or she can help. Don't email, go in person.

All MP's are in Ottawa but they do have offices in their home ridings , you don't need to talk directly to him/her . his office can help you .

If your wife is a Japanese citizen she's visa-exempt to Canada, so does NOT need to send her passport anywhere. All she would need is the COPR package to land with.

When you moved back to Canada together, did you update CIC with your Canadian address?

Is there anyone at the address where CIC is sending the package?

As Rob_TO says, your wife's passport does not need to be sent anywhere. All she needs is the COPR. Can somebody forward that to her by Fedex or whatever is the fastest method? Once she gets it, she will have to go to the nearest US border to activate her PR status, and this must be done by April 30, if that is the validity of the COPR. You could drive to the US border and do a "flagpoling" or she could fly, it doesn't matter. But she has to go to the border.

And yes, go to your MP's office. MPs do not themselves deal directly with their constituents' problems; they have staff to do it for them and they have the authority to make inquiries to CIC and get an answer back within a short time. Don't email the MP's office. Just go there in person and ask for help, because it seems time is of the essence here.

Good to know she doesn't have to send her passport. We did update CIC with our Canadian address.

We went to the MP's office. They can't see us until Monday, which is only 5 days before the deadline for landing. Everyone we know in Japan will be working and unable to pick up the package. The COPR validity date is exactly 1 year after her medical exam, for what it's worth.

VOs have been known to extend the validity of medical results, or ask for a new medical. You could explain to your MP's staff that 1) even if the VO couriers it to Canada next week, there's a good chance it might not arrive in Canada before the COPR validity is up, 2) even if someone in Japan receives the package and couriers it to her in Canada, there's a good chance it might not arrive before the deadline, therefore you need an extension of the medical, or be allowed to submit a new medical, so that the COPR can have a later deadline on it.

Do you know if your VO has already sent the COPR?
