What is more important? Your feelings or a realistic understanding of the facts? I believe you are all adults and can deal with the emotional ups and downs of life.

My wife's application took 13 months. It would have been much longer if I had sit around on my thumbs wishing of rainbows and gumdrops. CIC is not Santa Claus. They will not surprise you one day with a new bike or puppy. Back in February of 2013 I first learned of VO closures and then the expiry of the PAFSO collective Agreement from 2011. Having experience with collective bargaining I knew a strike would come. So I got proactive and started emailing every living creature that had anything to do with the immigration or political process to get my wife's application moving. Within 2.5 months of my campaign I was waiting at the airport to pick my wife up.

You can have all the wishful thinking you want but action is what you need. I give you the facts as best as I know them so any rational human being can make whatever necessary adjustments to their lives to accommodate the disaster CIC has become.

Go over to the main thread on the strike: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/foreign-service-strike-t140961.0.html

Early in the posts there are example letters and who to send them to.

Cheers!

MP's from all parties in your riding, the Minister for Immigration, the Manager for Family reunification at the embassy your spouse has applied through, newspapers and the PMO. Email them with details about your case and that you wish to lodge a formal complaint concerning the mismanagement of your application, the hardship that mismanagement has caused and remind them that government works for the people not the other way around.

I would start with Dumbo. That elephant has incredible pull in the PM's office... :p
