I am kicking myself a lot now as I should have just listened to my gut and fought with the woman at the post office. She was insistent that this was better for me, but I should have caused her some more trouble and do what I thought was better.

Go back to the post office and let that woman and her manager know how badly she screwed up. That's what I would be doing...

I never said that I agree with the long processing times. You are right, it ought to be a lot shorter.

As for the OP, I don't think anyone can answer your question. The other two packages could be on the way back, or you might not get anything for weeks. It really depends on when they check the package. I hope for your sake they check it right away and send it back to you. At least that way you can correct the mistake and resend everything together.

Sorry FS bad day today and frustration boiled over. Fingers crossed for everybody and hope CIC picks up the pace. I feel really bad for the mid April and early May applicants who seemed to have been bypassed and then hit by really slow processing times as well. I was 1 of the few lucky ones but doesn't make it right. Anyway hopefully April and May will get sorted in the next week and then on to June

I agree with FS completely! she should not be working @ the post office... I would be flipping! but in my opinion this isn't a CIC horror story this is a post office horror story and they wonder where the slang term "going postal" came from... LOL cus that would b me up in that place, postal! I'm sorry but it's just common sense that it should have been sent together. I hope you get thru this mess as quickly as possible! GL!

Yeah, if it were me, I'd start off extremely calm...then explode in anger! She screwed up, BIG time! Definitely shouldn't be working at the post office. How could someone not know that an immigration package being sent to the government should stay together as one package??!!! (I'm referring to the postal worker!). Oh yes, I'd be giving her a piece of my mind...no doubt!

all the best for you charlize! If you live in Alberta you won't have to wait long for those envelopes I would say, maybe next week you'll have them already
from my experience: don't trust someone just because he or she is working in an office or a store or someone who has a diploma, that's not a guarantee for their intelligence or that they can give you good advice...listen to yourself, so if something goes wrong, you can at least blame yourself.

The postal worker messed up but I don't think she is responsible for knowing they have to stay together. I am sure she has no idea of the process and it would be a logical thing to do in other circumstances. It is always up to you and you alone.

I live in Alberta, so it doesn't have to travel across seas.

When our application was sent back the letter was dated June 6th and we got it in the mail on June 15th and our approval for me to sponsor my husband the date on the letter was July 3rd and we got it in the mail on July 13th and it had to come to Seattle.

There's an important lesson here as well: keep a copy of everything.

If you had a complete copy, you could turn around and (re)send it. Otherwise, all you can do is wait.

Good luck - the wait times are killer, but CIC is an expression of the will of the Canadian people (and clearly they value patience as a supreme virtue).

Yes I agree. I do have a copy of most things. However, some of the forms that are...wherever they are are forms that originals are required...so...I already have to get some things re-done because of expiry if they don't arrive soon, and I need to get forms filled out again with original signatures!

So...I am going to hope it just all comes back to me soon.

I feel awful for you to have to wait for this to get sorted out on top of all the waiting we all have to do already. I'm sending my application on Monday and it will also have to go in a box. I'm glad I know ahead of time not to let the post office talk me into sending envelopes because I probably would have gone along with their suggestion as well (thinking they know best... obviously not the case ).

What address did you have it sent to? I presume that when it is sent to the PO Box, you are unable to get a signature.

My husband is from Alberta. Ours was organized in a big box that's why we sent it through FedEx. CIC has a courier address. But I suggest you wait for the rest of your
packages because they might give you a UCI number. Have you tried their call center? They might give you better advice to address this situation.

This is something very shocking. Why did you accept her viewpoint in first place? Did you think CIC will take pain on your behalf for merging the envelopes when they are already neck deep in the files. You would have delayed your post by a day and checked with someone who knows.This would have saved you from redoing everything

You need not to attach a big box full of documents. Mine was accomodated in a single postal envelope. Attach documents which are requested in their checklist and in the same order. Make the things easier for CIC so that processing will be faster

I had my state n FBI check all done at once if I had realized the state checks would come in in a week I wold have waited so my app was sent with expired state checks but the FBI were still vaild I figured atleast it's in there and being processed and once we get the approval I will send in new copies with the UCI number... I hope it gets back to you soon!! GL!
