I'll be moving to Canada during this year 2011 and i would like to know how much will be the cost of a childcare/daycare for a baby under 2 years of age. Thanks!

I dont know for someone who is less than 2 years old but to give you a rough idea there was a Toronto Star article published on Saturday February 9th 2011 where it stated for a 5 year old child to enroll in full-day classes $1,342 per month in Cresent Town Day Care Centre. Hope this helps

That souns very expensive to me :-[ Thanks for the information.

Burnaby area, the average child/day care is approx $1200 per month. Lower end day care is not recommended as these places usually are over populated and the care is bad.

As the child is under 2, day care will probably be a lot higher, around $1500 a month to factor in the extra work involved in caring.

Wow!! i should consider to be a stay home mom after i get my permanent residency. Childcare is very expensive.

Yes it is... I landed in Canada a month ago and I can't even begin to go to job interviews, it doesn't make sense if the money I will earn will just go to the daycare.. Plus here in Regina, SK most daycares I've called are full and there's a waiting list... My daughter is in kindergarten, afternoon daycare here costs around $400 a month.

Quality childcare is definitely expensive in the Vancouver region. Depending on your financial situation (you might be a very candidate)...you might be eligible for financial assistance from the provincial government.
