Hi all,

I need to apply for PR sponsorship of my daughter. She is currently in India and her TRV is approved. Passport currently sent for stamping. They are planning to travel to Canada sometime in May

Can I apply for for her PR sponsorship right away or is it advisable to wait for her to Land on TRV status and then apply for PR sponsorship?

Are you a PR? If so are you compliant with your RO? If yes or are a citizen and are planning on remaining in Canada you should start the sponsorship process asap since it could take up to a year. In some provinces your child will not qualify for healthcare until they get PR so would make sure to take out travel medical insurance before coming to Canada to make sure at least they are covered for medical emergencies. You’ll need to pay out of pocket in certain provinces for routine care.

There's no inland/outland distinction for dependents, so apply as soon as you can. Note though - apply from within Canada (assuming you are a PR).

@armoured @canuck78

I am a canada PR currently staying in Canada. Mother is also PR and daughter has been approved for TRV. Both of them are in India currently and plamning to travel in May to join me

My question - is it advisable to start PR sponsorship process ASAP or do i wait for my daughter to land in Canada. IF I apply now, I ll have to declare daughter address as India . However, she would be in Canada in couple of months while PR sponsorship may still be in processs

Will it create any issues if her address changes while PR sponsorship in progresss? Dont we have submit passport for PR visa and then COPR? If you could breifly explains how process works it will be great

Regarding health insurance, that is a good point. I ll buy insurance for 6 months to a year till the time she is approved for PR/ She will be staying in Ontario as I working fulltime in Oakville currently

Apply now and just update the address later after they have arrived.
There is no "inland" and "outland" for sponsoring your depedent.

You update using webform. You can do medicals anywhere in world. At passport request time, you'll do a virtual landing for her (computers and stuff) without her leaving Canada. This is quite normal and while there are sometimes delays, it's nothing unusual.

You can apply as long as the sponsor (you) is in Canada. Do it sooner rather than later.

You may be required to do the medical in India but should not have to send in passport in India. The medical is very easy to complete and will cost substantially less in India. If applying right now for your child’s sponsorship it will already have been processing for multiple months and so she will qualify for OHIP multiple months earlier than if you delay applying for sponsorship until she arrives in Canada. That is one of the benefits of applying right away. There are no good reasons to delay processing until she arrives in Canada.

Guys I need your advise, I am PR holders my wife's Outland sponsorship in progress(It's been 5 months already). Her TRV is approved, she's 4 months pregnant now . Planning to bring her to canada apply for work permit once landed in Canada and using an offer letter get her OHIP and deliver the baby in Canada. My wife want to stay in India and deliver the baby. If baby is delivered in India. I have to go through baby's PR process which is taking 10-11 months of processing time on IRCC portal. Please advise, Which option is best delivery in India or Canada?

First she needs to get a WP and then needs more than an offer letter she needs proof that she is working full-time and will be working for 6+ months. Given how pregnant she is that would be very difficult to prove. Would also not lie if she is not planning on working at all or for 6 months because that is healthcare fraud.

Hi there, can anyone help me with my query? My and my wife are based in Dubai both have PRs already. My wife will be delivering next month in Dubai. Is it possible if I can fly to Canada, start the child's PR sponsorship and leave from Canada back to Dubai, and we all fly back as a family once all of us are PR.
