My parents moved to Canada with me when I was 7 years old and became naturalized citizens few years later. I received citizenship with them at 12 years age.
Now I am living outside of Canada and 8 months pregnant. I assumed I was a naturalized citizens and so my child will be a citizen.
However we went to the high commission today and were told that there is a chance Citizenship Canada could reject my baby's application based on the fact that I am a citizen through parental descent. I had thought this whole time I was naturalized citizen. The officer said there is no way or control for him to know for sure if the baby will/will not be a citizen and that these decisions are made in Canada by another office.
Should I go have my baby in Canada then? Anyone here who has a similar experience and has a concrete answer?
