My parents moved to Canada with me when I was 7 years old and became naturalized citizens few years later. I received citizenship with them at 12 years age.

Now I am living outside of Canada and 8 months pregnant. I assumed I was a naturalized citizens and so my child will be a citizen.

However we went to the high commission today and were told that there is a chance Citizenship Canada could reject my baby's application based on the fact that I am a citizen through parental descent. I had thought this whole time I was naturalized citizen. The officer said there is no way or control for him to know for sure if the baby will/will not be a citizen and that these decisions are made in Canada by another office.

Should I go have my baby in Canada then? Anyone here who has a similar experience and has a concrete answer?

The officer at the high commission was 100% wrong. You are a naturalized Canadian since you became Canadian same time as your parents. Your child will have Canadian citizenship by descent if you have the child outside Canada. While the high commission will receive your proof of citizenship application, they do not get to decide whether to give you citizenship or not. They can only pass the application on to Canada office in which they will determine that your child has Canadian citizenship.

Someone should be fired ASAP.
You child will not transmit the canadian citizenship to his children born abroad, but you will.
