Child born in USA to Canadian PR parents

Hello,

I am in a situation where I am confused about giving birth to my baby in Canada or USA
Me and my husband both are Canadian PR's and have Non Immigrant status in USA, Right now we are in Canada working on our citizenship and expecting the baby in July. I will be eligible for my Citizenship in July 2022 in an year from now and my husband will be eligible in July 2023
Our parent's doesn't have Canada visa and as a result we are thinking of going to USA for delivery since we have our siblings there to assist us.
My question is If baby is born in USA, can I apply for his Citizenship along with my citizenship application next July 2022? Will he become Canadian citizen then?
Or do I have to wait for the baby to finish 1095 days in Canada like a regular applicant, I just want to know what are his options to become a Canadian citizen?
Any kind of suggestion would be really appreciated

Thanks

If your child is born in USA before you become a citizen, then you need to return to Canada and sponsor him/her. The child after approval will become a PR like you. After that, I am not sure how long does the child need to live in Canada to apply for citizenship.

If you are planning to become Canadian citizens, then I would suggest that you stay in Canada. You would have to apply for him to even go over to Canada, which may cause issues due to wait times and visit limitations. Plus, you have health care in Canada and you would have to pay out of pocket or get insurance in the US and then pay deductibles and the like. So, you would be looking at the PR fees and then the citizenship fees as well as the cost of the hospital visit... doesn't make much sense to me. I get that you want family there to help, but they can either go to see you or you can just do it on your own. I did it by myself with mine and my husband at the time did little to nothing to help me. Good luck and congratulations.

Note, comments here with no advisability of this, just the citizenship part.

And caveat that this is as I understand, you may be better asking in citizenship forum here.

There is no waiting period for a (minor) PR of whom one parent is a citizen to apply for citizenship. As soon as the child is a PR and in Canada, can apply.

I believe that if the child has PR status when parents apply, the child can apply for citizenship together with the parents - I'm less certain about this.

I do not know about the situation if the parents have already applied for citizenship (separately) and the child acquires PR status whether the child's application could be submitted or 'joined' to that of parents. Given the rather long delays for citizenship, this may be an awkward wait (although in the end not very consequential, just longer to wait until parents get citizenship and then apply).

Obviously there are other potential issues that I'm not commenting on here, such as health care for the child, which might be expensive and very consequential.

Do you have a good US health insurance plan? Depending on where you live your child will may not qualify for healthcare in Canada so for 5-12 months (around a year right now due to covid) you would need to pay for routine care. You would also need to wait for documents to return to Canada and quarantine. Given covid it isn't really advisable to travel especially as you are more vulnerable as a pregnant woman and a newborn.
