Hello all,

With our taxes just done with and me not getting a favourable return :(

I was wondering if anyone knows if and/or how we can claim the money we send over to our families overseas?

Someone was telling me that you can claim this money that you send overseas to financially assist a family member.

Does anyone know of this or has tried before?

Thanks.

i dont think there is any such rule as you will be taxted on the amount u earn and is taxable and if ur employed that is deductes at source and if self emplyed you pay tax on that so i cannot understand any reason that they pay u back they only pay back the amount that is taxted extra wait for other to reply these arw my thoughts only

As i m dec remedical applicant and other dec remed applicants are getting their ppr.. so in the light of that i checked my ecas before hand in case there is something new ..
but still its the same "application recieve".. nothing new
I hope you understand it now.. although it was not that much difficult to comprehend :)

thank you for your response.

What I herd was that if you send money to family members (even if that family member is non-resident / not in Canada) you can claim that amount and you will get some percentage back from the gov't.

It's like in Ontario where some people receive GST/child assistant credits from the gov't. You can qualify to receive this kind of credit also.

is it mandatory to send the PHEP form or just the information like Height, eye color on a seperate paper alongwith photo and Passport...and if someone has expired passport earlier does it need to be send too?????
