thank you so much hogaishaadi for your response!

My processing started in Aug, 2011. I left for pakistan towards the end of October 2011.. and stay there until March 2012. during that period my husband came to visit me in pak.. as he lives in Saudi Arabia.. March - June 2012 i lived in Saudi Arabia.. and i just came back..

i have sent them confirmation of my flight booking for coming back to canada and all

I have been out of the Canada for about 9 months now.. i have sent proof of me coming back and resuming my work as i was on leave for a year (only took 9 months off.)
i stayed with my husband for about 3 months and the rest i was just with family in pak
do you think that would be an issue? i should be allowed to leave the country for as long as i like cuz i am a citizen
am i correct?
Ur wrong..once u apply for a sponsorship then it doesnt matter ur a citizen or pr holder u cannot leave the country for more than 6 months...it can delay ur case..n it's been not even a year since uve applied n ur put for 9 months... Strange.... I'll just say gudluck.. Bt this will cause a delay n hurdle in ur case..rest all ur choice..

Not really. You can leave the Country for as long as you like but that might raise alarm bells at the Visa Office. Why should your husband be issued a visa to settle in Canada when you the sponsor is not even living in Canada!

The Harper Govt is becoming increasingly intolerant with these sort of marraiges. I kind of agree with them. I have heard too many people say that all they are interested is in the "canadian passport" and after that they will go live in the middle east or wherever. That is BS. I agree with Jason Kenney on this one- people who are just after the citizenship do not deserve to have it. Being a Canadian is a privilege - dont abuse it.
I totally agree wid u...ppl think tht once they apply for sponsorship then they can live with their spouses till the time their process is nt over..thts totally wrng...n ppl have mis conception abt this process.. There are 2 recent cases on this forum in which Chc has rejected their application n their process is over coz their wives were living out of country with their spouses n families fr long tym..so their cases rejected forever.. If u want too see then open the 2009-2010 threads n u can see many examples of objection n rejection. Please ppl shud understand it's nt a game of dolls tht I'll get thru as u want..we on this forum just want to wanr ppl n make them learn frm others mistakes bt if they still wana jump in the well then it's their own choice..gud luck to all those then..

Bro u r right to one extent, however, as long as u r a canadian citizen, u have leverage, u can go be with ur spouse heck u can even apply if u r not even in canada ur self (read the immigration forms first, there is a whole section on it) as long as you can show strong ties or that you will be coming back to canada, thats all that counts... In this particular case she went for 9 came back and is working... No harm done... At the absolute worst she may get a second look at her case, but nothing to freak about. Although I do recommend ppl to play it as safe as possible, the less moving around(address change), or travel u do during ur sponsorship process the better...

If u as a sponsor are a PR card holder, then u better stay put in canada, as u have to remain here, although can still go visit ur spouse for 10-12 day stints once a while....

Please dont scare members without full knowledge... The immigration forms themselves reveal a lot of do's and do not's...

I cant say I entirely agree with you. Being a Canadian citizen doesn't exempt your from the immigration sponsorship process. Furthermore if Canadian citizenship was obtained for fraudelent reasons- your citizen can be revoked. This was made evident last year when the Harper administraton opened 1800 cases against Canadian citizens who has obtained Canadian citizenship but were no longer living in Canada. That was in addition to 4500 permanent residents facing similar charges. The question might really narrow down to how did this individual gain their citizenship? Was it through PR? If yes, then why isnt this individual living in Canada? And then alarm bells start ringing.

I am not saying this individual didnt have her reasons- but she shouldnt be taking any chances.

Sir, this is not about scaring anybody. A lot of the time people think that "bad" things only happen to others- but that is wishful thinking.

Don't worry there is always something you can do; have already sent a voluntary package? If not then you should, since you will have a lot of evidence and in the package send a letter stating why you were there for this long; also if possible get a letter from your employer saying you were given this time off as a sabbatical or whatever they are willing to give. Inshallah if your intention was good than good will happen. This forum is an awesome resource but it can make things look pretty rough. Oh yeah as you said you do need to pray. Good luck and may you be reunited with your spouse soon.

you are welcome, if it was the other way around i would have stated it as that... actually hum Pakistaniyon ki problem yeh hai keh agar koi hum sey simply sawal pochay toh hum wajuhaat sochnay shuru ho jatay hain, ke yeh sawal kia toh kyon kia... like "hi how are you?" and we reply "i am happy, coz i passed my exams, as my parents wanted me to pass them as that was the only way for me to be able to get a girlfriend, now i am kinda concerned about the mental state of my girlfriend, but i am glad that i atleast have one, and i am 110% sure that when i tell her my feelings, she too will accept me as her bf and her true love, how excited she will be when i come across her the first time :D "... awkward... i am fine ty would have been good enough...

whether good or bad we over analyze everything to the point its against us... i cant recall exactly which form it was, but it clearly states if you yourself are outside of canada while applying and that you intend to return to canada to live here once your spouse gets sponsorship... thats when you have to prove to them that yes you will be living here... and there is no clause in your citizenship that you can't be outside canada or it will be revoked... thats non-sense... yes if you are on welfare and then outside canada, you have a problem, or committing crimes outside canada, you have a problem, if you are a clean and abiding citizen, do as you please...

now if you ask me personally, i would be back and forth to my wife to make sure her cooking and cleaning skills haven't deteriorated, now that is something i would be concerned about ;)

Not a good news for people back home who were intented to apply for Immigration but it may speed-up the process of sponsorship cases and other immigration cases that are already in line.

"Effective July 1st, 2012, Citizenship and Immigration Canada will place a temporary pause on new applications to the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and federal Immigrant Investor Program (IIP)"

Thanks!

This most definitely will divert workload towards family sponsorship cases and decrease processing times.
