Syedgj, to be honest ACCA would not have its worth without a degree. Dont you have a masters degree? Its not just ACCA but all professional bodies in all the countries are only transferable with a degree so whether its CGA, CA, CPA or ICAEW all would require a degree. Dont you still have the option to write your thesis for the Oxford Brooks? If you do then I would very strongly advise you to do it or try to get a Masters degree or some other under grad degree whatever you find easier. You will be in a good position to find a decent job if you do get your CGA even though ACCA is recognised in Canada but Canadian employers always prefer a Canadian degree or Canadian work experience over non Canadian degrees. If you have worked hard enough to get your ACCA then please do some more effort and try to get your CGA through the mutual agreement. Usually all new immigrants have to go back to school to upgrade their education to find a decent job in their field and with ACCA we are somewhat in a benefit. I asked my husbands friends who have done their bachelors from very good Canadian universities but they dont get any exemptions for CGA but we do so take the benefit. Look into your options and research and try to find a solution. Good Lucksyedgj said:I might be a little late on this discussion, but what's the worth of ACCA on it's own? I'm an ACCA member as well but I didnt get a bachelors degree (not even Oxford Brookes), and CGA would not let me in without that. What are my options?
I have a question though...any one of you have travel history? I have done my ACCA and MBA from England and have worked in New York as well so ive been mostly out of Pakistan..do you guys think my travel history is the reason im still waiting to hear from the embassy? I have been to Canada before too on a visitors visa for just 2 weeks in 2010 but at tht time they gave me the passport bk with the visa within 2 weeks but i had applied while I was in New York. I have submitted police certificates from FBI, New Jersey state, London and Pakistan which are all clear. Never lived a day over my visas in any country. Still have US visit visa valid but I am not going there in case I get a remed or PPR while im there. I have the option to live in the US while my application is in process but its gonna be a year soon since we applied so I am hoping it gets done soon. This confusion is taking a toll on me....only if they would atleast give us a status update..
