we just sent in letters from the both of us explaining our situation, the same pictures all over again, letters of support from the maulvi who did nikah, family friends, etc. and skype chats.

Nope! They keep everything until the process finishes and send everything back with VISA stamped Passport!

So thats a Nikah only case and same as mine. I have got the idea that instead of performing rukhsti and walima we can also send the letter from both the sides explaining the reason.

I haven't applied for CAIPS but i think if they extend the date.. its good news.. you will get PPR soon .... if i am not wrong same thing happened with 1-2-4 guy here.
