OK..so now i'm confused!!
i've gone through this manual and it doesn't say anywhere that a sponsor (PR already living in Canada) has to be IN CANADA when spouse is issued visa in Pakistan!!
What you're saying only applies to CANADIAN citizens living OUTSIDE canada!! :S
am I correct in understanding or does someone has a better take at this?? :/
5.9. Sponsor
A sponsor is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or Registered Indian (see Note
below) at least 18 years old, who resides in Canada and has filed an application to
sponsor a member of the family class, a member of the spouse or common-law
partner in Canada class or an applicant seeking permanent residence status in
Canada under H&C grounds [R130(1)].

5.10. Sponsors residing abroad
Sponsors residing abroad must meet the requirements in the following table:

return to Canada will be assessed based on documentary evidence
and/or interview assistance from the visa office where necessary
