Hello,

Is it possible to get a visit visa to canada for your spouse if she is in Pakistan, and if you have already applied for her PR? As I understand, dual intent applications are allowed, but have heard horrible stories regarding rejections.

Kindly if someone can share their knowledge/experience regarding this. Thank you!

Yes, you can apply for visit visa but there r not much chances of success. I only know one girl who had got visit visa when her husband had sponsored her from Canada....and this is just one out of ten.......u might be lucky enough to get it. Trying does not hurt so yeah go on at least try.
My personal experience: Sponsored my husband in Feb 2010 and had 1st kid in jan 2010....now had second kid summer 2012......applied for visit visa before 2nd child was born but got rejected......so no visit visa and no PR yet........GOOD LUCK to u :)

Hey,

you can always apply, but very few visas are granted... CIC doesn't really believe that your spouse will go back to Pakistan after being in Canada when married to a Canadian (or PR). So if you decide to apply, make sure that you include very strong evidences that she has to come back ( school registration, work etc) otherwise her visa will probably be denied.
But you can always try.
Good luck,
Sweden

Sorry to hear that your visa got rejected. Hope you hear good news soon regarding your PR.

I am not at that stage yet, but this is very relevant to me. The current waiting period is horrible ... 26 months. Essentially this means that you are wasting some very precious years of your married life by living apart.

For the girl who got the visa, was there anything specific about her case which kinda helped her out (husband's annual salary in Canada, strong ties in Pakistan like job/school etc.)?

Thanks......and sorry I dont know her personally so not sure....and all i know is that her husband is a taxi driver here in Canada......but i guess u should get ur wife enrolled in some college, etc there in pak which will show the immigration officers that she will come back for her studies.
I hope someone here who had success with their vist visa will help u.
