CHC Dhaka Closure !!

It is an history now with the official announcement is under effect since 30th April, 2012.
I am sure they meant VFS when they said their Dhaka office.

There is no possibility for CHC Dhaka to process anything related to visa. that section is closed now.

So "our" and "to them" refers to CHC Dhaka!

VFS is a 3rd party agency which is a "Logistics" company for diplomatic missions in the country. They take care of US/Thai/Singapore and many other visa applications - taking the passports and papers and delivering to the proper commissions for clearing. In this way, it saves the missions a lot of overhead costs. While VFS utilizes its existing network, less of a burden for them as well. Win Win for both the sides.

Ultimately I am relieved in either of the cases as long as I do not have to receive the passports through regular registered mail.

I took GRE and scored well over 2270 out of 2400.

A few of the applicants went to CHC Dhaka after the closure and found the visa section is deserted and closed. No one is there. all visa related tasks are no longer performed by them in Dhaka.

In our previous correspondence with you, you were advised that your passport would be available for pick-up at the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka. However, the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka is now closed. Therefore, it is no longer possible to deliver your passport to you through this method. Our office will return your passport to you by registered mail on Thursday, June 11 , 2012 at the following address:

Applicant's official mailing address.

What makes you so exclusive and why do you think that section will re open for delivering your passport to you?

I would appreciate a link to that post.

Firstly, there is only once entrance to the CHC Dhaka, and it is not "closed." You wouldnt know that because you have never entered the CHC Dhaka. The ppl who are getting rejected are the ones going after the 30th April deadline, and therefore they are being told to send it through other methods! Last week one person collected his "Passports" from CHC Dhaka if you recall in the All Bangladeshi's forum.

Now , this is bizarre . For some they are serving from the Visa Section in Dhaka and for some they are showing the door to Singapore.

Please elaborate. I am sure persons collecting anything from the visa section in Dhaka are not collecting them from the visa section, rather they might have some personal link with officials with the Canadian mission, using whom they are getting their passports.

Interestingly this is being given to "FAM" applicants if you look at who are getting these mails. hmmmmm. Thanks for the link atleast, now I know that it is possible to collect it using FedEX.

With proper authorization papers, DHL and UPS can also carry passports.

As of April 30th there has been CHC closure all over the world due to budget cuts and CHC Dhaka is one of them. CHC Dhaka website gives the following message "the Visa and Immigration Section at the Canadian High Commission in Bangladesh (Dhaka) is closed and services have been transferred to the Canadian High Commission in Singapore (Singapore)" My question is that I submitted my passport to CHC Dhaka on 17th April after receiving PPR request. I am supposed to collect it back from CHC Dhaka but after the closure what is the process ??Does anyone know or are in a similar situation ??

submited my pp on 11th march 12 at CHC dhk , already sixteen weeks gone no update .

The process is very easy to send passport through DHL, just goto the foreign ministry office and there you need to spend 3000 to 4000 taka to issue a letter on your behalf. That letter you need to submit to DHL and they will carry your passport. never dare to send through any other courier as they are not reliable. I am quoting this because one of my friend is working in travel agency and this is how they frequently need to send BD passport to other country for issue of tourist or student visa. Foreign ministry is well aware of this kind of issues so you dont need to explain them a lot. Hope this helps you.

Pls tell me the process of collecting Authorization letter from Foreign Ministry as I want to send passport to singapore by Courier
