He did not submit his passport yet. He went to CHC to do that but could not. He will need to mail the passport as soon as possible to Singapore.

mzr below is the email i received

Thank you for submitting your passport for issuance of your permanent resident visa. We have now issued your visa and your passport are now ready to be returned to you.

In our previous correspondence with you, you were advised that your passport would be available for pick-up at the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka. However, the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka is now closed. Therefore, it is no longer possible to deliver your passport to you through this method. Our office will return your passport to you by registered mail on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the following address:
XXXXXXXX.

If the option to receive the passport by registered mail is not suitable for you, then please advise our office before the date noted above for delivery by registered mail. If you prefer to receive your passport by courier, please send a prepaid courier envelope that is large enough to hold your passport. Please note that our office will not cover the costs associated with delivery of passport by courier. If our office does not receive a response from you by Monday, May 7, 2012, we will proceed with delivery of your passport by registered mail.

Please note that your visa expires on XXXXXXXX, so you must land in Canada before the expiry date.
Calvin, have you gotten back your passports yet?

Mailing Passport to Singapore

Can someone please help me here,
My husband recently received a letter indicating that he needs to submit his passport for Visa. Since the CHC closed down in Bangladesh, he will need to mail his passport to Singapore. He contacted the Fedex office today in Dhaka and they said they cannot mail passports. They asked him to contact the Home Minister and get approval first. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

FedEx surely carry passports but only if the passport request is enclosed with it. CIC obviously sent you a passport request email or letter, take it to FedEx, DHL, TNT, UPS. With a valid authorization letter they carry passports. As long as I believe your Home/Foreign ministry has a section to deal with such stuffs like endorsing Phd students's papers before they head towards abroad/apply to foreign Universities for scholarships. dont get scared before making contact with them. go and ask them.

Sending Passports using FedEx and such couriers are practically 99.9% safe.

Jnathan,

I also think there must be option to send passport to SVO by courier. You may know that Bangladeshi students who apply to study in New Zealand need to send their passports to NZ immigration office at New Delhi for visa stamping and courier companies certainly carry their passports.

Take it from someone who works in that field, all these express companies have been officially notified not to send out passports without approval of home ministry/foreign ministry/the whole lot!

Re: Mailing Passport to Singapore

Thanks for the response everyone.
A few of the local courier companies agreed to mail the passport without the approval of the Ministry. We will just have to look around some more and see which company is reliable.

My Spouse's Medical + Visa will expire by July 23, 2012. If afraid this mailing process will take more than a month and his medical will expire before getting back the passport with Visa. :(

Maya89,

DO NOT use local courier companies.
Just DO NOT.
You should visit the ministry tomorrow and try your best to get an approval for shipping the passport by the courier company.

If you need assistance in sending passports through courier such as DHL (from Bangladesh), get in touch with me through PM.

Thanks for the help Mr Munakib, but my husband got a hold of a courier company.
We chose the 'registered mail' option to receive back our passport from Singapore rather than relying on a courier company. How reliable is the registered mail option?

The process is very easy to send passport through DHL, just goto the foreign ministry office and there you need to spend 3000 to 4000 taka to issue a letter on your behalf. That letter you need to submit to DHL and they will carry your passport. never dare to send through any other courier as they are not reliable. I am quoting this because one of my friend is working in travel agency and this is how they frequently need to send BD passport to other country for issue of tourist or student visa. Foreign ministry is well aware of this kind of issues so you dont need to explain them a lot. Hope this helps you.

Good news for ppl who submitted passports right before the deadline (in April). I just got this message from SVO

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your enquiry to the Immigration Section of the High Commission of Canada in Singapore.

Please await contact from our Dhaka Office if you have already sent your passports to them.

- So I am now less worried about receiving our passports through the unreliable registered mail.

@ Maya89, it is a mandatory requirement that the passports have 12 months validity in order to recieve the visa, (i actually did not understand what you meant by his "visa" will expire by July? What visa?)I am not sure how it will work out for you. I suggest you send a physical letter to SVO that you are collecting new MRPs and will send them the moment you receive it. By that time, I think the passport sending procedure would be less complex (Maybe SVO will appoint VFS to send and receive Imm. Passports as well).

Regards
