Ok, So I have copy and pasted some of my chatlogs with my wife who lives in Costa RIca, and man , it ended up being 40 pages, and this is not all my chat logs, not even a quartar of them... just want to know if this is too many pages of logs to be printed? and isnt it gonna cost me so much to translate them all? I mean I am defenetly not going to transate all of that it has a 12000 + word count on MS word...! So guys give me some advice, i just want to do everything right,

thanks,

Gary

well this is a common problem i saw many threads about this well i suggest you start speaking english cuz cic states that any type of supporting document must be translated either to english or french and has to be noterized ,its not a big deal they just need to know how often you guys speak with each other ,you write them a good relationship letter in english .overall dont translate everything ohhh god no it is going to cost you a small fortune as i said start speaking english if applicable and send them the old chat logs untranslated explaining what major points you guys are talking in a different letter by pointing out the dates.hope this is helpfull

40 pages would not be too much to send in usually, but if you have to translate it all I can see it might be a problem.
Can you pick and choose a few logs only, maybe about 10 pages? And then explain that you have hundreds of pages more, if they want to see them.
As for the translation: an official document must be translated by a certified translator; unofficial documents, such as chat logs ... Well, ideally, they would be done the same way, but who wants to spend all that money? So most people get a friend to translate, or do it themselves. You can get this translation notarized if it is not too expensive to do so. Or you can just have the translator attach a statement saying the language translated is ____, and that he/she swears it is a true translation of the original. Usually people who have done their own translations for supporting evidence such as emails and chat logs have not had any trouble with getting them accepted.

You don't have to have a certified translation because this is not a legal document. Do as canadianwoman says. 40 pages might not be too much if it was in English or French, but that's a lot of translating to do. I would recommend choosing some, separated in time. If you can, find something personal, but not too intimate. They don't really want to be "a fly on the wall" in your bedroom, but they won't like it if what you send is all talking about how to fill in the forms. That would look like a fake marriage for immigration.

i cut and pasted my chat logs in word. works well. also re: the suggestion about language. if you want to have any of your chats in english, you can use an online translation. it isn't easy but it works and then copy in your chat. sometimes, i have to do that when i want to make my point in my equal other's language (hebrew). even though he speaks english, written english is acompletely different. so i am sure it would work the other way. if you even need it.
