The employer has to apply for it from HRSDC after advertising the job on the jobbank for a minimum of 2 weeks, and then has to certify that there were not Canadians or PRs available or qualified for the position. Until it is approved you can't apply for a work permit or work.DILI said:THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. WHAT IS LMO AND HOW DO I OBTAIN IT. IS IT OBTAIN AFTER THE JOB OFFER OR BEFORE THE JOB OFFER. WHAT IS THE IMPLICATION ?
If the job offer is permanent then HRSDC will not approve it.DILI said:THANKS PMM. BUT MY JOB OFFER IS PERMANENT. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST ?
Doesn't really matter what the result was. Immigration and LMIA rules have shifted quite a bit over the years (back then there were no LMIAs but LMOs instead). So what happened six years ago isn't really relevant to today.arrayofhope said:Hey Dili,
I know its been a while. But i'm curios to learn if you were successful in changing your status??
Hi Scylla. I hope you are still active here. I am wondering if students under a 2 year program in Canada (just finished the 2 semesters of her first year and have found an employer who is willing to apply for the LMIA) can shift her Student Visa status to Working Visa status? If so, will it be that hard to be approved if even if the employer is very supportive?[/QUOTE]If you are looking to change your status from full time student to full time worker, you'll need a full time job offer from a Canadian employer and that employer will need to obtain an approved LMIA. Once you have these two things, you can apply for a closed work permit tied to that specific employer.
