2011?
Hi there,
I applied post June 26 for FSW1 with my visa office being Buffalo. I am not a citizen of the USA, but have resided here for the past 6 years under a valid visa. Now for personal reasons I might have to go back to Germany before the anticipated receipt of Canada-visa.

My question: Is there a possibility to change my visa office if necessary?

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.

Happy new year everyone.

A friend went through the same thing. She was told it is at the discretion of the visa office if and when thay want to transfer the file. There is no legal obligation to do so and it can take some time to transfer the file if they agree. I hope this helps.

Hi,

Yes you can change your visa office when you move to Germany you can request to Buffalo visa that you have permanently moved to Germany and would like to transfer your case to Germany office. However it could take upto 3 months to transfer your file which will just delay your process.

Cheers
Saki

So, could I keep Buffalo as my visa office then even if I return to Germany? Or in my case does it become necessary to change visa office?

Thanks for your help.

Remember if you keep the same visa office then your visa will be issued from the same office as well and you will need to send your passport from Germany and also if they select you for the interview then it will be held in Buffalo as well so think about these things before changing the visa office, you can do medicals in Germany but visa and interview will be held in Buffalo if you dont change the visa office.

Cheers

Thank you so much for your help Saki and parisian girl. I guess have to wait and see if I will have to leave the US earlier than expected, and decide then what I should do. At least now I know that there are options.

So the time of transfer will vary from VO to another VO, I am thinking of returning to my home country too and I am concern of the cost of delay. My VO right now is so slow or maybe they are so busy while the VO from my home country is a little bit quick on docs processing.

You might read the following what CIC says about transferring files:

"Visa offices are not required to transfer files for any other reasons. Such reasons include cases of applicants who comply with subsection R11(1) for the specified visa office, at the time the application is received at the CIO, but subsequently leave the territory of the specified visa office. In these cases, the original visa office should proceed with a final determination of eligibility and process the application if eligible. The visa office should not transfer the file to another visa office unless the transfer is warranted for program integrity reasons. Leaving a visa office’s territory alone does not warrant a file transfer. In this case, if an applicant requests a file transfer, the visa office should inform them that the application will not be transferred
