CHANGE OF PR NAME

hello everyone! i'm finally here in toronto last july 12. when we submitted the application i was still using my single family name and even when i change the passport. so all the documents i had like copr is still my last name. the question is will they follow the name of my COPR when they will issue the PR card? if we want to change it to my husband's last name is there any process or we just need to inform cic?

They will issue the PR card according to what name is written on the COPR, at least for initial PR card.

You can change it after you get your PR or when it is time to renew it. But in order to do that, you must have driver licence, health card and SIN card updated to provide proof or justification for name change on PR card to marriage name.

I have a question about this as well. How does that affect the passport from your home country though? Would you have to hold the marriage license to prove ur the same person when travelling or do you have to change ur name in your own country as well?

This is one of the reasons we decided to keep the PR card name with maiden name to match name as written on her Passport.

that's my concern also. anyways if there is no other way i'll better wait for the pr card to come then later change it same with the other id's.... thanks for taking time to answer my questions

Same here. I did not change my name to use my husband last name yet. COPR and passport should match the name and my passport will expire in two yrs so I will just change by then.
