It expires on 5th june'2013

I got married on February 14th 2013
I got my marriage certificate on 4th march'2013

I sent notarized copies of my wife's passport,copr, visa stamped page in my passport, marriage photo, marriage invitation

I also sent a mail , fax to the delhi high commission to inform them about my change in marital status

2. will the high commission send any letter or something to travel? shud i wait for any reply . you need to wait for reply from your VO, they will send you requests fro updated IMMs Fees for your wife etc..
3.pls advice me of any other solution as my pr is expiring soon. No other solution, you just need to wait an email from them. PR will expire so expect to have another one

To make things clear... If your file is not updated and you received a COPR as a single person then you need to return it back and ask for adding your wife to your application.

There is no way to add her up or sponsoring her after landing Canada as a single person. They might even question your PR when you try to sponsor her. This is the rule!

@ all,
The guy did the right thing by informing VO. He should never land without adding his spouse to his file. VO will now issue the spouse MR, his COPR will cancelled
and a new one issued for him and his wife...Only that all this might take a few more months. Needless to say it's less hassle than having to explain the discrepancy between his single COPR status while he is married upon landing....big trouble (aka misrepresentation).

Just nudge your VO a little (by sending them CSE).

Since your visa was issued before your marriage, it should not cause any problem. You update visa office only if during processing your status changes. You can come to Canada and complete your PR on the COPR. Not sure if you have applied for sponsorship for your wife or not, but you will have to do that in order for her to come to Canada.
Wrong. Dead wrong.

It doesn't matter when the visa was issued. His corp is no longer valid because he is now married. He has no choice but to return the corp to the VO unused and submit the paperwork to add his wife to the application.

If he does not do this and if he lands on the corp he has now, two things will happen;

1) He will never (NEVER) be able to sponsor his wife for PR
2) He will be committing misrepresentation by landing on a corp for a single person when he is actually married. If CIC finds out that he has lied about his status on landing, they can revoke his PR status.

Totally correct! Read the letter or email coming with CoPR. It says on it, if you get married or any change in your family you need to inform CIC and they need to issue a NEW CoPR.

If you go ahead and land without adding her up. What is above mentioned (1 & 2) is totally correct. Call up CIC Call Centre they will say precisely the same. I asked before, and I have seen many people had to do the same...

guys im in the same situation im the added person, and my husband got his visa before we got married.

anyway YOU CANNNOT GO LAND AS SINGLE WHILE YOU ARE MARRIED. It is stated in the COPR plus you will need to return it back because it is cancelled. just follow the rules, it is easy the rest they will add your wife do some bg and reissue visas.

Hey guys
I have an issue and I wish if you can help me.
I am single now, expected to have my visa issuance for PR in May.
Can I get married and then land to get the permanent residency card and after that apply to sponsorship her ?
Or it is better to get the pr card and then return back to get married???????

1. If you marry before you "land" your visa is no longer valid. You could be reported for misrepresentation and your spouse could never be sponsored.
2. So your only choice is "land" first.

Just as PMM answered,you have two choices to choose from;
1.Land 1st then return to your country and get married and then sponsor her
Or
2.Wait and get married,inform your Vo of your change in marital status.this means you have to wait for extra months to add her to your application!
So the choice is all yours!!
