Chance of Chinese Girlfriend With Work/Study Visa For Australia Visit Canada

I have a Chinese girlfriend who is currently studying her masters in accounting in Australia. She has been in Australia for 1.5 years and will con't to study in the country for at least one more year. During her study break in June/July 2011 she would like to visit me in Canada.
I have a good salary in Canada, +100k annually and my home is paid for.
My girlfriend has limited funds as she is a student, basically makes enough to cover monthly rent and the basics. Her parents are providing funds for her to attend university. She will pay for her trip to Canada, however I will fund her stay in Canada.
What are the chances my girlfriend can visit me providing notarization of my letter of invitation?

I was in a very similar situation to you - it was a about 5 years ago so it's going to be different. But here are two relevant tips that will help you (if not now, then later on when you decide to reside together):

• Check everything yourself - I knew my girlfriend didn't understand the forms. So I hired a Chinese immigration law firm in Canada to help. I trusted them way too much and thought they would advise her and make sure she did it right. Also the agency spoke Chinese, and at that time, I didn't. Her first application was not approved, and later, when I did look at it myself...well, honestly, I wouldn't have approved it either. Some spots had missing info, etc. So don't rely on a third party to check it for you.
• Be persistent - Even though our first application was rejected, the second time we were approved easily. I did the paperwork myself and it was worth the extra effort.

The main reason for denying TRVs is that the Visa Officer suspects the applicant may not return to the country of origin. So, emphasize her studies, and maybe even provide a letter from her university saying that she is committed to finishing her studies there, and what a bright future she would be forfeiting if she did not (or something llike that to show she would be foolish not to return to that iniversity).

Sometimes two educations systems don't mesh perfectly; if by switching to a university in Canada she would have to re-do some courses, that woudl be extra ammunition to show she will return to Australia to complete her degree. How to show this is another problem, but her university advisers might have some ideas.
