Hi all,

Would request you all to share your experience in pursuing CGA or CA course in Canada.

How is the job market, does canada education (pursuing course) count or only reference work for getting job ?

I have completed medical and waiting for PPR (under FSW). Have 1 or 2 year to plan for CGA course. I have completed bachelors (B.Com) + CA (inter) + pursuing ACCA.
Would like to know exemptions in CGA and when the exams are held

Regards
Cool

If you have CA, you can apply for CA in Canada.
You should visit CA website in Canada...they have all details.
If you are planning for CGA, also visit CGA website in Canada.

You will need to pay a fee to appy when you are in Canada so that they can tell you what courses or exams you need.

I am finishing my CGA in Vancouver.

Thanks nguyentu,

I have gone thru CGA website but not exactly clear about the exemption I should get based on my education - B.com (3yrs) + CA intermediate + ACCA pursuing (pending 6 papers)

As I mentioned, the only way to get exemption is to submit an actual application...they will be able to tell you.

Assuming you have most of your courses transferred, you will need to take PACE level courses with CGA (4 courses). CA courses or equivalent will not be accepted. You will also have to take Taxation in level 4 CGA.

So at least 5 courses needed to be taken with CGA to get a CGA+ 2 year management accounting level. You may apply for max of 1 year outside of Canada but the other 1 year has to be with a company in Canada and 2 CGA need to recommend you to get CGA designation.

Hope this helps.

Interesting topic,

I am ACCA affiliate, all exams passed but not a member yet.

What do you think my exemptions will be ? Also, what should I do in terms of better paying jobs and always in demand profession ?

CA, CGA or CMA ? OR I am hearing about something NEW = CPA ????????

Please advise. Anyone ...... ????

We are all becoming CPA. I am from Vancouver and CGA just signed the agreement to join.
I am not sure about ACCA, you may have to take a few courses and earn your experience in Canada.

Thanks a ton nguyentu, u have clarify major points

ACCA has a mutual recognition agreement with CGA. I don't know the full details, but they can be found here:

(I'm not allowed to post links apparently)
w w w .cga-canada.org/en-ca/International/StrategicAlliances/MraAccaCga/Pages/ca_mra_faq_acca.aspx

As others have mentioned, CGA is in talks with CPA for a merger. The merger may have consequences on the MRA with ACCA. My understanding was that merging CGA with CPA may put an end to the agreement with ACCA. Act as quickly as possible if you plan on registering with CGA.
