Hi,

I am a Canadian getting married to an American in South Carolina. Today I got our marriage license/certificates.

They are signed by the probate judge, and when we get married they will be signed by my wife and I.Then we must mail 2 copies in to get certified, and we keep one copy. This one copy obviously won't be certified, but is still a valid license/certificate signed by the judge, my wife, and myself.

Will this suffice when crossing the border into Canada, to present to the border officer?

Why would you show them this? Unless they ask specifically for it, don't bother handing it to them. If you say you're going to visit your wife, they MAY (and they may not) tell you to turn around. Reasoning is because they will not believe you are going to return. It's okay to have the copy, but make sure you have evidence of ties to the US as well.
