Student mostly look for part-time jobs in warehouse and restaurants.
Yea, Scarborough don't have open space for big warehouse.
So mostly they are located in Oakville, Brampton, Concord and Vaughan.
No one can pay you less than $10.25 in Ontario.
These $7 are paid in Cash.
And it is illegal to work in Cash.
That's why some employer exploits employees by paying low cash.
It depends on employer not on area, how much they wanna pay ?
At last, We don't have option and start working with low cash pay.
We can't blame anyone for it.
It is our mistake. But we need money to bear expenses too.

even I want join in centennial clg this fall semester
I am planing to do post secondary advanced diploma

and abt cash job I dont think we have any other option, As to apply for work permit we need to wait for 6 months

my doubt is after 6 month can all apply for work permit, do all get it and after applying how much time will it take to obtain off campus work permit?

I also herd that many work on cash and even after 6 months they dont apply for permit as they need to pay tax for it?

its illegal means wat happens? will there be anything like checking etc. do u know that anyone are caught working without permit and wat happened to that person?

my parents cant afford the whole fee and living so it is must for me to work and compensate atleast some amount.

So wat do u think I should do should I work on cash or not and should we apply for work permit after 6months or not?

(In an educational fair I met a representative of winnepeg uni she told me that frm 2014 jan there is a new GO coming which states that we can work frm the beginning that means there will be no need to wait for 6 months. how far is this true?)

I agree with aman singh and unless those criminals r not hurting international students, I dont think there is a need to discuss abt crime rate. Even mumbai, delhi and hyderabad has crime rate so should we stop living there? so its senseless.

And i heard that scarborough is full of indians, srilankans etc and its too hard to get a part time job is it true and also i heard that even if we get it the employer pay only $7 while the minimum is $10 is it true plz answer.

(I was scared when I heard about this crime rate topic few days before but now I am more bothered abt the part time jobs and som r even saying that the quality of education in centennial is bad plz clarify me abt this.)

Hi, i have a friend who has been living a few blocks away from Centennial campus since last January, he is with his wife and kids and he never had any kind of problem.

Now he is just waiting Work Permit to start working, he has been interviewed in 3 different part time jobs.
