CEC Outland Applicant

Me and my partner are outland CEC applicants (living in the UK) and we received COPR on Friday, below is the details of our application as it might help some of you. It is a little complicated so I hope I explain it well.

AOR - June 2020
Re medicals - June 2021
PR confirmation portal email - End of June 2021
Sent passports - 8th October 2021
COPR - 29th October 2021

We had no news between AOR and the re-med request, our profile was updated quickly showing our new medicals and we received the PR confirmation portal email at the end of June. We replied explaining that we weren't in Canada and so couldn't use the portal and (of course) we heard nothing back.

Sick of waiting, we called our local visa office (London) at the beginning of October and they said we could use the PR portal email we received as a PPR request, so we sent our passports and photos to them with the PR portal email. We were pretty skeptical but it actually worked.

Don't lose hope people and feel free to ask me any questions.

Wow, congratulations!!! I might try calling the London office too, since they have my application. Do you happen to have their number handy?

Congrats…it’s really a great news, I am also in the same boat received portal email 3 weeks back but my address is indian address from the beginning, I replied the same but no response, may be I can also contact local visa office in india, did you call London visa office or you sent the email? What was the actual conversion happened?

Called the london VAC on that phone number you mentioned 02036033860 and selected the option to speak with a customer service agent. They didnt really know anything about this and i asked them could it be done they said its their decision when it arrives lol... I also asked what courier to use and he said any that you like so really didnt instill any confidence. Im worried bc i dont really want to send off my passport and have it get lost or worst case not returned to me.

They gave me the email for their specific courier and exact instructions about what to do, maybe try calling again as you may get a more competent person on the phone

Yeah the guy seemed clueless tbh. Thanks for your help and glad you got sorted, i live quite near the VAC so i think i might stop by and see if anyone can give any further info. I have also sent a webform because i need to make sure 100% that they are processing my application, as they denied this before months ago. What a mess anyway

Hi all, has anybody tried to call IRCC recently and the agent is able to help with application status update? Or are they still only assisting the Afghanistan crisis?

Every webform I send I just get the prioritizing Afghanistan excuse. It's now been over 2 months. At this stage you would expect them to have come up with a solution that addresses the Afghanistan situation without disregarding and ignoring everyone else.

If you are a UK citizen you won’t need to send your passport, just a copy. When I sent my documents to the VAC I used a courier of my choice, it doesn’t matter which one you use, but you will need to pay for a return courier as well as the processing fee, and send proof of this payment along with your docs.

They told us to send our actual passports and two photos each. So confusing!!

Hmm, weird, UK is a visa exempt country, and so in the letter I had it said people from visa exempt countries are only required to send a passport copy. The list was 2 pics, photocopy of passport, proof of payment of fees and a copy of the letter requesting these.

Do you know if Australia is a visa exempt country by any chance?
