Anyone had a case where their BG check went from not started to in progress five months later?

My progress

AOR Feb 24th
Medical Passed Feb 26th
Background Check In Progress July 20th

Ever since then nothing.

Anyone had a similar case to this?
I'm worried that my bg check finally went to in progress so late into the application because this might mean there's a delay. I hope that's not the case.

BG turning is usually a sign that your application is at the last stage. You should expect PPR in a week or two.

My BG check went into IP same day as yours... my AOR is Feb 17th and i'm still waiting for PPR but as someone said, i think we're on the last stage so i don't think it's cause for concern!

CIC requested RCMP for me today.
Have an appointment with local police on Monday for Prints. Hopefully this does not delay it by much.

Surprised that they already are looking into my background (they haven't even confirmed eligibility yet).

PS: I can not login to ECAS using anything I have, Tech support has been useless, they told me to use myCIC as it updates faster.
Already ordered Case Notes to see whats going on.

1. RCMP- you would need to submit this request by 60 days...it might get delayed or might not depending when you actually submit the request because it may take time
2. Before they do eligibility check...they do r10 check which has to do with your pcc's under "criminality"...sometimes these are done parallely
3. ECAS has been decommissioned long back...the only for you to get updates are thru calling CIC, mycic website or thru ordering notes

2) I just find it kind of counter productive that they will spend all these resources on someone who may not be eligible.

1. that's good news that you are getting it done at the earliest. Please do keep in mind 4 things: a) if your prints are clear you will receive it pretty quickly b) if your prints are not clear it might take upto 120 days as per RCMP website c)processing delays from RCMPs end d)postal delays. I am thinking you should rec'v it within 60 days but if you don't please submit LOE with receipts from RCMP (saying you will provide it later when you have it) to be on the safe side

2. To prove you are eligible for the category you have applied under takes a whole lot more work like verifying your educational docs, verifying your employment records, verifying your points, your age, etc....where as, if someone had a criminal record, they find that persons application ineligible right away...so I don't believe it is counter productive because it saves them time

1) I think I have a clean record (well, i dont remember the weekends) (thanks alcohol) so you never know LOL. If i dont get them in 60 days I sure will do what you said. I am sure someone else with same name has a record and this is just to ensure that I am not that guy .
2) You are right, I misjudged the amount of work it takes on the other side. I was thinking more about allocation of security resources. It makes sense in the bigger picture. Thanks for providing that perspective.

AOR - May 30th 2016
Medical Passed - June 14th 2016
Additional Document Request: June 15th 2016
Background Check: In progress June 16th 2016
Additional Document Request: July 5th 2016
Background Check: no need at this time July 6th 2016

Currently Review in Progress.

I have few questions:
1. I did some research in several forums and found that the average processing time for CEC Inland application is between 3-5 months max, is it true?
2. When is the best time to order GCMS notes?

Seniors and PR holders i would really appreciate if you can share your experience.

We were just under 5 months from application submission to PPR. I actually ordered GCMS notes around 4 months and they arrived AFTER we got our PPR!!!!

well, i have gone 7 months and counting with no update from cic for the whole 6 months; gcms notes does have eligibility outstanding and they requested imm5406 (i had filled it out correctly first time, mind) last week. i really would love to understand the process a bit better.....
