Hello,

I was in Canada under the IEC working holiday visa and returned back to the UK in August 2015. I worked for just over 9 months, however this was based on a 40 hour work week. I would therefore have worked more than the 1560 hours required but not 12 months.

Would this be acceptable?

Many thanks

Darren

Dear Dazzab,

CIC wants you to complete both 52 weeks and 1560 hours. Even though you worked 40 hrs/week. They consider only 30 hours/week.

Approximately, 39 weeks for 9 months. So you have completed, 39weeks*30hrs = 1170hrs.

Hope this helps you.

Hello,

Thank you paras1991 and Nalanda for your replies. I am not sure how I could now gain further work experience to take me up to the full 12 months / 1560 hours? Any suggestions?

I believe I would be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker program but would require a job offer to get enough points. Is there any way to seek out employment being a British citizen.

Many thanks

Darren

Hello Darren,

Why do you think being a British citizen will make any difference? You still need to go through the same steps that everybody else from any other corner of this planet went through. And that includes IELTS too!

That being said, you won't have any chance on CEC anymore. Though getting a job offer is not impossible. Hard to get but not impossible. Try to find jobs connected to your profession online and apply for them, you never know. Also you will rank higher on the board if you get your IELTS score high.

Do a research on PNP options too. Some provinces have easier options than others.

Best of luck,
