I'm going to be submitting my application in the next few days but can anyone guesstimate how long it would realistically take to reach the 12,000 cap?

I think CIC does not receive not more than 300 CEC application in a month. This is my opinion 8)

We will come to know the result in next 2 months

hi mikebailey_uk,

if you are going to submit your application in the next few days then you are too far away from not making it into the cap, just chillax and enjoy life :p :p.
my only one cent advice to you is to triple check your application and make sure its COMPLETE,all forms are included-signed and dated as well all supporting documents required in the checklist are supplied,if any document missing include a cover letter and explain why, never leave it up to the VO.
if you make sure your application is complete then you will not only avoid it been sent back to you but also avoid the chance of not making it into the cap, since every day pass pay numbers will not be in the applicant's favor.

good luck :)

I did apply for my lmo under NOC 6322 (Cook) in July but got rejected on baseless reasons. So my lawyer made an administrative appeal which is still in process.

Does the new rules means that my appeal will be rejected right away as its no longer considered under CEC?

If my application gets positive response then can I apply under any other immigration program?

Any help is much appreciated as I have been given time till 7th January to restore lmo.

Thanks Guys :)

Reyan619 this new changes is only designated for CEC which is a permanent immigration program.
LMO is to be used for a temporary work permit so this rule will not affect you at all,and i hope you get a positive LMO this time and restore your status.
i just want to say that if you intended to apply under CEC,you have to think about plan B now since COOKS became ineligible as of november 9th.

good luck :)

i dont know about provincial nominee program in Ontario but you can check to see if you qualify for that.
in January they will revise their list for skilled trades program,if the include cooks you can apply in that program.
you can apply for federal skilled worker category if you have ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT from your employer and meet the program criteria.
lastly you can consider moving to another province maybe, where cooks are eligible for nominee program such as Manitoba, saskatchewan,im not sure but i have heared from others that is easy to get a nomination certificate there.

Applications submitted before Nov-9th are not affected by the MI-10. And the NOC 2011 was not used until early in 2013.
So if you've submitted your application beginning of 2013, you should be good with using the old NOC 2006 system NOCs.
Toby, I am confused here. Does this mean that CIC came up with a new set of NOC codes recently?
