Hi, we're waiting with my husband for a PR since Feb2020. Besides a lot of attempts to contact IRCC - nothing changed and it is still stuck at the background check. However, we're both on WP. We probably need to go back home for 2-3 months. And it might happen that we will get information about approval once we are outside of Canada. Can we still come back and cross the border on WP if they are valid? Or do we need to apply for a travel document? Do you know if your WP is valid when you are approved as landed PR? Or it automatically changes status for invalid?

Currently IRCC is asking if you are in Canada before issuing you a COPR. If you are outside Canada, a COPR will not be issued until you return and if you have a valid visa, you can re-enter Canada.

@legalfalcon my everything is passed since 23 rd april with remedical and nothing has appeared so far can you please give an idea how long it will take for ppr

Express Entry applicants inside Canada are being landed instantaneously right now, with a letter issued by IRCC confirming that you are now a permanent resident and that you may apply for a PR card. The letter indicates: If you are currently outside of Canada, do not attempt to travel to Canada. Please contact us immediately at the following address and we will send you additional information: CIC-ETOBICOKE-LANDINGS@CIC.GC.CA

With the current situation no one can predict. If all stages are passed, you just have to wait.

IRCC will either send an email to ask you if your are in Canada, or will instruct you to use the PR landing portal. If you get an email directly with a COPR, without asking you if you are in Canada, then all other existing visas and permit will be cancelled. However, you should inform IRCC that you are currently not in Canada.

Also, if IRCC gets to know that you were not in Canada at the time when you received the COPR, you may be reverted back by to your TRV status and IRCC usually sends this email:
