CEC and PNP Applications at the same time

Hello,
I applied under CEC in October 2012 and my application is under process. I was wondering if I could apply for ON PNP at the same time. My employer offered me to apply for PNP last year when I approached them for my reference letter. But I thought CEC would be a smooth sailing and I would not be restricted to the province and same employer until I get my PR, so I didn't take the PNP route then.

Now, I am thinking to cover myself with PNP if something goes wrong with my CEC application. Do you guys think it is a good idea to start working on my PNP application. Please give your suggestions so that I can talk to my employer if they are still willing to file my PNP.

I work for one of the biggest companies of Canada and they are familiar with the PNP process.

Thanks

Thanks buddy. FYI - I had used that function and had referred to the post you have pasted here. But my case and query is little different from this post. My apologies if I wasn't more specific in my post.

It's been 10 months since I have been waiting, so I thought starting this new topic could provide me with more insights/alternatives from the seniors.

Anyways, thanks once again for taking time out to read my post and search/paste for me.

You've already been waiting for 10 months, so you can expect MR soon. There's no need to panic right now.
Average processing time for CEC is 13 months, you're close. Sit tight and wait for MR and RPRF.

Hey guys, quick question for you. I applied under CEC category beginning
of September 2013. My employer now offered to also support PNP application.
Do you recommend, as a backup plan, to also apply for permanent residency under
PNP?
I remember reading that PNP applications are still processed faster than CEC, is that correct?

Cheers!

Hey toby. I am also thinking of doing the same thing. I have applied under CEC, but I am not 100% confident that it will go through. By loooking at few rejections in this forum, I am a bit worried about the duties mentioned in the reference letter. They may not match with the NOC code that I've applied for. I have my PNP application ready and will be submitting in a week or so. Since there is nothing wrong in applying for both CEC and PNP, I believe it is better to have PNP as a backup.

Sorry for my late-ish response. I dropped the idea of applying under PNP class too.
PNP processing times are about 16 months right now, and therefore way longer and slower than
CEC.
So I will go for CEC and in case of rejection simply re-apply fixing the problems in my application.
