Interesting and sad at the same time, thanks for posting. Just goes to show how backward and inefficient this system is.

Never read into the comments on any online article. People are EXTREMELY ignorant and aren't afraid to share it in the comments! Any article about immigration, and the ignorant red necks come out!

Being able to post comments anonymously allow them to post what they really think without any flashbacks. Ignorant or otherwise. It could be anyone from your next door neighbour to your co-worker. If the posters were forced to reveal their identity, their comments would be quite tame or they will just not bother making any comments.

So true. Some places are forcing you to use your real name in the comments. While some people go out of their way to create fake accounts, most don't bother and guess what... the comments are much more civil!

The difference is that what they write on the comments doesn't match what they really think Politically correct then starts to come into play.

That's not a Canadian thing. That's a UK, France, US, Australia, Germany, Sweden, etc thing. Many people aren't overly thrilled about immigration in any country but it's because they mistakenly believe immigrants will:

1) Suck up benefits and never pay in
2) Take jobs
3) Not assimilate or even try to live like the culture they move to.

Are those things true? In limited cases sure. But overall immigrants do give a lot to the nations they've moved to.

Too funny now (it wasn't that funny when it also happened to me!!). I was in the exact same boat. Agent refused my application despite employer indicating on the reference letter that I qualified for the NOC, but agent didn't feel the same way, and just denied it without even picking up the phone to call the president of the company to verify. Phone number clearly on the letter! So I'm out the door because of their lack of proper due diligence. Didn't bother with court since it would take too long and cost too much...going sponsorship route instead...at least I had a choice, while others may not.
