Carrying money on landing and more

Dear members,

I plan to land in Canada early December, can someone please help me with the following queries?

• I intend to take around CAD 35k, what is the best way for it?
  • Cash (I know I can carry as much as I want and Canada border agency dont jave a problem with it, not sure if Pakistani authorities will have a problem?) Plus, it dont sound safe to carry that amount with me
  • Open an account there and transfer beforehand?
  • Convert into some other form and carry with me?
• I have a good credit history in Pakistan, is there any way I can use the credit rating in Canada?
• Is is possible for me to rent an apartment (not basement) over there without job and credit history?
• I plan to book a hotel there for the firat one week and rent an apartment during that time, do you think this gives me ample time? Also, would be great if you could suggest any hotels etc such as airbnb or cheaper than that?

Hi all,

Thanks for the help.

I have however decided to carry the money with me and i am going to land alone first. My spouse and child are going to fly a month later.
My question is, when my wife lands there she wont be carrying any money, will she be asked for POF? Or she could simply say my husband had it when he landed.
What happens if i give her a copy of my bank statement from Canada but by then I doubt if it will have the complete amount as i would have spent some of it in rent advance and stuff.
Can anyone please guide?
