Hi,
I came across this forum while searching for information regarding live-in caregiver employment. I hope that someone can give me directions on my situation right now.
I applied for a foreign live-in caregiver last year. My prospective employee is my soon to be ex-wife's sister. She got approved for employement early this year. But along the way, my marital condition changed and separated with my wife. Due to this breakdown on our relationship, I decided to relocate outside of Canada where my work is located, bringing my son with me. My ex-wife made a deal to let her sister come here and she'll find her another employer, which I agreed.
Last Saturday, my employee arrived. I plan to take her this week to Service Canada for her SIN # and OHIP application (since by technicality, I'm still her employer). My ex-wife informed me that she already found an employer for her sister; and since my schedule to move to my new place is next month, I want to know what steps or complications it may cause to release my employee immediately (sort of 'release upon arrival' scenario). Also, we will be giving up our house, where all correspondence with regards to my application for the live-in caregiver was addressed. Can she just request a change of address to Service Canada for her OHIP application (since OHIP processing will take 3 months) and for other documentations after the transfer of employer has been finalized? Thanks. Any information will be a great help.
Added:
I'm thinking of just endorsing her to a nanny/caregiver agency, and have them process all paperworks needed. It will also help her new employer of preparing documents for the transfer, and just hire her thru the agency. Does this sounds workable?
