Besides paying 350 plus insurance against the 50 in US, its a pain to get it activated for my vehicle here

They want crazy letters from previous insurance companies.. they have annual contract so I cannot hurry with my first policy and request them to change the quote once I get those letters
TD wants me to fill out a handwritten form that will arrive by mail.. hasnt come in the last 3 days

Can someone suggest me some good auto insurance that
takes less time and doesnt have a contract
Please ..

I've been there. That's just the beginning. This is Canada. You'll have to get used to your life here. If you don't have money, you shouldn't be in Canada. Everything here is overpriced and less quality, and expect terrible customer service.

Thats not true, Europe is like that though, overpriced and often times not the latest stuff/less quality. I have lived all over the world, so i know. In Canada you pay a lot in taxes, and services are less than for instance Asia, but you get a safe and clean environment in return.

For the OP, i think you should look around a bit more. Had a similar story when i lived in the States, found only very expensive car insurance, then after some research, and customizing plans, i got a super deal via Progressive. So, maybe just look around a bit more, both online and calling around also, sometimes they have deals not posted on the web.

What they are looking for is a 'letter of experience' from your previous insurers. Those really aren't that hard to get, just give your US agent a call and inform them that you would like to have one of these sent to your home. I had one done and it took about 2 weeks to get it here and it is giving me the same rate as any other driver in Canada now. Previously they would have had me in a "Class 3" rate section, which would've put me at the very high end of the payment scale. With this letter I am now "Class 5" and only missed "Class 6", which is apparently about 99% of the populations class, by a few months due to an insurance claim in the US 4 years ago. It will be clear on my record in Dec 2014.

The more 'experience' information you can give an insurer in Canada, the better your rates will get.

Good luck

Will the accept letters from countries other than the us?
Sure, I don't see why they wouldn't. I only stated "US" because the OP was coming from there.

If you are living in the city use a friends address who lives near north pole, village/small town. That will lower your insurance.

Until the first accident, then you will find that by lying about your residence, that your insurance is now void and you are paying all the costs.

Not to mention that this would likely be seen as insurance fraud.

Not really. Insurance fraud is when an insurance company is charging you outrageous premium, regardless of your impecable driving record, the type of car, the color, the number of doors, the neighbourhood you live in, and tge ridicolous list goes on
