Can't link paper application to online account?

I've created an account through the GCKey on CIC website but when I try to search for my application it comes up with no matches. They received my application on 29/09/2016 and sent me a letter on 7 October saying to link up the account. Does this mean they haven't inputted the whole form yet? Or do I have to contact them?

Did you find a solution to your problem? I am experiencing the same situation.

I received an email stating that they received my application and instructed me to link my application online. Although when I search for my app it is not found. I can do a status check on my application and then the result is there saying that it's been accepted.

Linking your application to MyCIC is an absolute artform! I tried 22 times over several days and finally succeeded on the 23rd attempt. Please read the wiki article in the link below, this summarises one method that worked for me and others.

I was also unable to link my application but finally today i did it . I was able to find my application by application number and last name . In the last name i put my spouse last name and his information , left the passport section blank and no of family members was 2 ( me and my spouse ), i realized that on my application i had written his last name in all caps in my application but while entering it in gcc i was using small letters , today i filled in his name in all capital letters and was able to find my application. Hope this helps

I did manage to link the account eventually.

I used the application number, last name and last time I put number of family members as 1 but it was actually supposed to be two (me and my spouse). Left out the passport section blank and that helped me.

I also had to put 1, even though it should have been 3. I'm wondering if the same person did our files, and they were just putting in 1 for that when they were entering stuff into the system.

It was so frustrating trying to link it up, in the end I had to google how to do it. Worth it in the end though!

I cannot link my application. I tried various methods but it did not work. The method of leaving the place of birth blank or putting space does not work as it still asked me to enter that field. This is frustrating as I have to upload documents within a month.

Have you tried 1 instead of 2 for number of people in application?

Or try putting your marital status as single?

Both are common weird ways to get your application to successfully link.

Yes, I have tried 1 and 2 in the number of application still failed.
I tried the martial status a single still failed.

I have tried it 15 times over three days using different combination but still failed. This is a nightmare. I just started to keep track of the different combination in an excel sheet.

Hi, I am still trying and today is the last day, they only gave me 7 days to link it.

Not yet. I got an email with the 7 days notice.

if you apply as common law partner, the marital status should be 'single'. try again. it works.
