Cancelling hotel reservation while TRV is still in Process

Hi,

I just wanted to know if it's ok to cancel my hotel reservation while my application of TRV is still in process. It's been 2 months now and no update on my application.

My hotel booking dates are getting close and if I don't cancel it, I would need to pay for the reservation and cancellation fees.
