Cancelled sponsorship - Help!

Hi, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reverse a cancelled sponsorship? Long story short, I am a Canadian sponsoring US huband from INLAND. We were having major marital problems (partly due to stress of 1 income and only me being able to work while we wait) and decided to seperated. Regrettably I sent letter to Vegreville to cancel sponsorship. What bad timing, ONE week later I discover I am pregnant! We decide we wish to continue our marriage. I called Call Centre April 27th who advised they hadn't received/processed the cancel letter yet so I expressed mailed a letter to withdrawl my first cancel letter to Vegrevile on April 27th...

To my dismay on April 29th they processed cancellation : ( despite my phone call on April 27th (I guess they didn't put any notes on our file). WHY DO THEY TAKE ONLY 1 WEEK TO PROCESS A CANCEL AND FORVER TO PROCESS EVERYTHING ELSE?!

Does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to or who we cancontact? It must be as simple as someone having some compassion and doing some admin work to reverse the cancellation. We submitted the application on Nov 2009 and the thought of resubmitting another new application, on only 1 income while pregnant is just depressing and daunting.. : (

Once an application is cancelled, that's is the end. file is closed.
If you want to sponsor him you need to file a new application.

Maybe it would be better for you to apply again outland. If need be, your husband could then go back to the US and work and come see you on the weekends. Depends on how close you are to the border though.

If you apply outland he can stay in Canada as a visitor, so that's another option in addition to what Leon said.

We are in a similar situation. Except my new Canadian wife is not pregnant. But you are entirely correct, the stress of only one spouse working is huge.

Where is your husband now? Did he returned to the US to work? How long was he here with you in Canada?
From what others have said it is unlikely to undue the cancellation of PR.

The first thing you need to decide is what you both want given the constraints that your husband is not legally able to work here in Canada.

Also as others have said, it would probably be in your best interest to apply outland. Where he can work in the States. Even if you could reverse the cancellation, he still can not work until the first stage is approved and an open work permit is given.

Thanks everyone for their thoughts. Husband was in Canada for 7 months, we applied late November 2009. Now he is back in the USA for about 1.5 months now. He wants to come back to Canada if CIC will reverse the Canada, but it doesn't look likely.... we may be SOL : ( and have to reapply all over again.

We did go to our local MP who is getting in contact with Vegreville on our behalf. She said she would do what she can to help, but she said it would be unlikely as well...I also wrote CPC again, figure it won't hurt to make a plea...

The thing is once it has been cancelled the file has been shreaded,i had a friend who cancelled her app.She tried everything she could they told her after numerous calls and pleas that a cancelled or refused app that can not be appealed is shreaded for your security.
You will need to redue the app.So its best to stop wasting time hoping for letters or MPs as your new app will be in process before they ever get around to answering your mail,or the mp.

I've always wondered . . . Is the sponsorer the only one that can cancel an application or can the applicant cancel the application also?

Sure, just tell the visa office that they aren't interested in emigrating and the visa office will happily cancel the application.

??? I'm so sorry PMM, but I'm a bit confused with your answer. So the sponsorer is the only one that can cancel the application, right? The applicant can not do so unless they get their sponsorer to cancel it, right? Or am I wrong :-[!

The site also states no changes can be made it the Decision Made process only in the Process stage if changes are not done at that time it still proceeds. And if they sent you a letter stating it was cancelled then it was.

Start again, apply Outland.

It will be quicker and will give your husband an opportunity to earn income during the process.

Make sure you explain fully the reason why you canceled the first application and be prepared for an interview. If you apply Inland again, I suspect that you will be called for an interview before AIP. This will hold up the application for months, if not years, thus ensuring your husband is unable to work.

As hard as it is to be apart, this has happened and I doubt CIC will re open your old application now, like someone said, I believe they shred all information upon cancellation.
