cancelation of work contract - need to go out of contry urgently

Hello everyone,
I realy need help, in may this year me and my husband got the work permit for 2 years. In the mean time they got a desagreement and is employer cancel the work contrat. He is know waiting for the new LMO for another company,the problem is my father in law needs to get back surgerie as soon as possible but he needs us to be there he doesnt have no one else. Can we go to our cuntry and re entry in canada or they wont let us in again we hare so afraid because we dont wont to loose everything we have until now but we realy need to go.... dont have a clue what to do.

Sorry to hear about your situation!

I want to say YES if you have a VALID work permit and TRV....but my concern is if a BSO decides to do a thorough inspection and calls the employer (or asks for a contract as proof). Since you are on a closed work permit, and from the sounds of it, you do not have permission (LMO and work permit) to seek employment elsewhere - whether this would invalidate your admissibility.

For seniors: if on closed work permit, through LMO, and coming back from home country with valid TRV....does one still need to be employed?

Sorry, I cant give you a better answer, but I'm on an open work permit and havent had to deal with something like this.

if you are currently not working (laid off/contract terminated/resigned), do not go out of Canada as you will not be able to go back in even if you do have an unexpired work permit or valid TRV. Get new LMO and work permit for new employer before exiting Canada. Also do not forget to get a certificate of employment from your new employer.

as per my view close or open work permit not matter as you have stamp in passport for your close work permit and its multi entry and its valid than you can travel outside of Canada.

Hi again,
My consultant sais that this one is going to take more time to be aproved and do to be for construction a lot off people will be laid off for the winter it may even not be aproved this year.
only have work permit the stamp on my passport as expired in june and no one told me that i need a new one in case of going out of cuntry.
The surgery can only be deleyd one more month in the mean time is in the hospital because he cant walk be him self.... this situation is bringing ua to tears every day...

No turist stamp in passport as expire in june, our work permit o only expires in 2015.

I left my job, then left canada, then I decited to come back, and the only thing I had was my old closed WP and visa, no one said anything at the port of entry.

Hi, just to let u know, I'm also on a closed WP expiring March next year. I left my work a year ago. I went out of the country 2 months ago and returned with no questions asked about my employer. My thinking is that as long as your TRV (which is issued in conjunction with your WP) is still valid, it doesn't matter whether u are still working or not. You will be admitted into the country based on TRV. To be sure though, I'd call immigration just for peace of mind. All the best!

TRV = Temporary Resident Visa
You need that if you're from a non visa exempt country.

Portugal is member of the EU, you don't need a visa to enter Canada.
