I just thought I'd mention something that may help the Canadian women on here who are married to Nigerian men.
It takes quite a while to get a visa for Nigeria, and it is not cheap, so.... The next time you are in Nigeria, go to Immigration (the same place Nigerians get their passports) in the city where your husband lives and apply for a 'Niger Wife' certificate. Basically it is a permanent resident card. The card may take a while to arrive, but in the meantime they give you an official paper and at the same time you get a permanent re-entry visa. The visa is good for an indefinite number of trips to Nigeria and is valid for as long as your passport is valid. And it is free. The immigration officer who processed mine said that usually they will try to charge you for it, but they are not supposed to - it is supposed to be free. Any charge is just dash. That said, an Australian friend of mine got her card much quicker than I did, presumably because her husband paid $200 US for it.
You'll get the permanent multiple entry visa in your passport the day you apply. We were in the office almost the whole day, but now I can go to Nigeria whenever I want.
