hi everyone , i need some advice regarding my case .
i applied for canadian tourist visa on 11 jan 2016 which got rejected due to reasons of 'travel history , purpose of visit and proof of assets and all .
now at the time of submitting the file in vfs i submitted all of my documents including my bank details and balance certificates, company incorporation certificates in which i hold the position of director in five companies.companies balance sheet . then two covering letter, one from me and other from the cmd of the company,
furthermore i have fiji, two schengen business visas, uae, and usa 10 year visa(but not yet travelled) in my passport.
i dont understand why they have mentioned the reason of travel history even after having all these visas in my passport. i didnt send them my travel itinerary cz i thought i would plan it after visa formalities. and what should i do when i apply for the next time.

i mentioned 12thfeb to 19th feb in the application form. so if we exclude travelling time , it was only for 7 days. after that i was planning to go chicago from there but didnt mention in the covering letter.

7 days is way too short. You can’t be flying from across the world for just 7 days even if you excluded the traveling time, maybe change it to couple of weeks or something similar. This is only my opinion, see what other have to say about this!

Good luck

I know what you mean here, but how to satisfy the CIC officer is the problem. Maybe he/she wasn't satisfy that you will actually be there for 7 days, and since you didn't disclose that you will be flying to US the officer draw the decision on what he/she thought is relevant. Hopes other else will give their opinion as well

Hi,

1. What is the purpose of your visit?

2. What financial documents did you submit? 6 months bank statements? Financial investments, either liquid assets or locked-in?

3. While you have submitted your company balance sheets/business registration documents.... did you submit any documents to show your active involvement in managing these companies? Your share/ownership/valuation in these companies? Are you required to manage these companies on a day-to-day basis or someone else does? Are you allowed to spend company money on a private visit?

4. Do you own properties (residential or commercial), leased accommodation or land? If yes, do you earn income from any of these?

5. Do you have immediate family that live with you? Are they traveling with you?

6. Did you submit provisional flight and hotel bookings for Canada and your US visits?

7. Were your visits to other countries (including for your forthcoming US visit) business trips? But a tourist visit to Canada?

Cheers

Hi, My Visa was also rejected for the same reason on 22.01.2016.
I have US visa for 10 years. I travelled to USA last Sep'2014 and returned to India during Jan'2015. Myself & my spouse travel quite often. We have visited UK twice. We have visited European countries, under schengen visa on two occassions. I have traveled to New Zealand & other East Asian countries too. The last travel was to Malayasia & Cambodia during Sep'2015.
My covering letter clearly stated that We are visiting USA ( New York & Salt Lake City,UT) during 19th May'2016 - 15th August' 2016. During the course of this visit we had planned to visit Canada. We had requested for multiple entry visa.
Despite these details, the Canadian consulate, Bangalore, has rejected my online application visa for myself & my wife on 22.01.2016. I feel its unfair & demoralizing to reject, without even asking any questions/ additional data. Is not somebody from the embassy having a look at these forum to take steps for redressal/ rectify the mistake at their end.
Chandar.

If you had a valid US visa, I would have traveled to US then during my stay there applied for Canadian visitor visa from there!

We have to understand local staff even in foreign embassy (Canadian embassy in this case) don't perform like other foreign staff. The reason I'm saying this because I have experienced the same scenario, where you book an appointment and the local staff act like they know the rules and simply reject your application for no valid reason (NOT ALL OF THEM of course)
You just have to provide as much documents/evidence to satisfy the office. Just my opinion

On the contrary it could be more difficult to get a TRV if one is applying from a country where one has temporary/visitor status.... it is advisable to apply from the applicant's home country/country of residence

@pri007

1. What is the purpose of your visit?
- just for tourism for 6-7 days in toronto and vancouver
It would've helped if you had submitted provisional flight and hotel bookings + a detailed itinerary like a typical tourist with expense estimates

2. What financial documents did you submit? 6 months bank statements? Financial investments, either liquid assets or locked-in?
- bank statement personal, company bank statement, balance certificates, credit card statements of mine.income tax returns. pay slips. current employment certificate by the company.
With financial documents like these, it's somewhat unusual to get a refusal reason for *Proof of financial assets*. Did you transfer/deposit/borrow large amounts without an explanation about the source of these amounts? Do you have significantly high dues on your credit cards?

Also, do submit Partnership Deeds + valuation of your share in each of these companies. You can also submit an assets-liabilities statement prepared by a CA for your personal assets.

A company bank statement will not work..... unless you have sole ownership of the company.... and you submit business registration documents to confirm this + you are specifically allowed to use company finances for a private visit.

- i submitted our recent news articles in which my presence in the company has been shown in different sectors. our companies recent activities in the state, ties with the government.
New articles would work only to some extent.

You must submit proofs that your companies are actively trading.... proofs of your day-to-day responsibilities + who will manage your work in your absence? Also, include a *must return by date* for personal or professional commitments

4. Do you own properties (residential or commercial), leased accommodation or land? If yes, do you earn income from any of these?
- i own a property , but didnt send them that details .its commercial .
Proofs of ownership + property tax receipts + proofs of income earned and/or lease agreement (if it's the case)

5. Do you have immediate family that live with you? Are they traveling with you?
- i have , but they are not travelling with me.
Do submit evidence that your family is dependent on you financially/well being

7. Were your visits to other countries (including for your forthcoming US visit) business trips? But a tourist visit to Canada?
- fiji, hungary, switzerland, france, italy, uae. and i have the usa visa but not yet travelled.and i also didnt mention about the us trip in my covering letter,
For how long will you be visiting the US? Is it a business trip? Will you be visiting the US first before you visit Canada?

You can submit a broad itinerary for your US visit + provisional flight and hotel bookings.

Also, your finances must cover the airfare/hotel/expenses for both the US and Canada

Cheers

i would consider all these when applying for next time, but the fun fact is when you go to vfs to enquire about the process they say you dont need any supporting documents if you have valid us visa or you can also submit documents just for the safe side...  .its good that submitted all of it. otherwise it would've been rejected very badly with all the columns checked in the refusal letter.
now ll update here when i apply for the next time ..... 8) 8) 8)

Bad advice from VFS.

Merely having a US visa will not help to get a Canada TRV. Also, although fewer financial documents are required for CAN+ (US entry/exit stamps are necessary), one must still prove strong ties
